Diesein - Even The Best Are The Worst / Limited Yellow Edition (12" Vinyl)

DIESEIN is the solo-project of Laslo Antal (Sixth June). After an album and a single in 2017/2018, Y & C is now releasing the second album on vinyl for the first time, after it was distributed in very tiny numbers as a Tape in 2021 only!

The music, a mixture of Darkwave, Electro, Synthpop and many other influences, definitely deserves to be presented to a wider audience. There are a few surprises: „Sophia“ has clear Italo-Disco vibes (but not the very shallow version that flooded the charts at the time), „Lame Excuses“ is remotely reminiscent of quieter Depeche Mode songs from the second half of the 80s, while „Drop Dead“’ could just as easily have been released on the French Coldwave-label Lively Art back then.

„Only Friends“ and „Find Your Love“ are Darkwave in the style of Clan Of Xymox (after their 4AD period), with the latter track excitingly featuring a few Italo-echoes again, which will certainly tempt some DJs to try out the song on the dancefloor. „Trial“ and „Someone Else Tonight“ then lean completely in the direction of Darkwave, broken up in „Trial“” by the use of a Saxophone. „Oh Girl“ seems like a combination of the aforementioned Depeche Mode and Clan Of Xymox.

Towards the end, „Hypnotised“ also offers stuff for the Clubs and would certainly get the audience moving at any live performances, before „Even The Best Are The Worst“ comes to an almost blackcelebrationesque atmospheric and wavy close with „How To Be Alone“.

With ten songs in just under 40 minutes, catchy but not shallow Electrowave (as a general description), DIESEIN delivers a very classic album in the style of the 80s, produced with today's technical possibilities so that it sounds absolutely contemporary. More than just an insider tip!
