Nouvelle Vague - A Date with Depeche Mode / Black Edition

More than twenty years after Nouvelle Vague reinvented post-punk with their now-iconic debut album, they are opening a bold new chapter with A Date with Depeche Mode – a full-length reinterpretation of one of the most influential and beloved song catalogs in modern music.

Few bands have shaped pop culture as deeply as Depeche Mode. Few artists master the art of musical reinterpretation as adeptly as Nouvelle Vague. Bringing these two worlds together feels both completely unexpected and yet inevitable.

Recorded between Rio de Janeiro and Paris, the album transforms thirteen Depeche Mode classics into intimate, cinematic, and deeply emotional songs. What was once defined by machines and electronic sounds becomes warm, organic, and timeless here – revealing the extraordinary songwriting that forms the core of these iconic compositions.

Sung by an international cast of guest vocalists – including Skye Edwards (Morcheeba), Beth Hirsch, Flavia Coelho, Mélanie Pain, Phoebe Killdeer, Fredrika Stahl, and others – each track offers a unique encounter between a voice and a song, ranging from bossa nova and jazz to French pop and Latin American influences. The result: synth-pop classics reimagined, warm, organic, timeless.
