Saltillo - Monocyte (CD)

Monocyte is the long overdue, second album from SALTILLO, the ‘trip-hop electronic meets violin and cello’-project from Chicago-based artist menton3 (previously in Sunday Munich). This wonderful album is one of the most eagerly expected follow-ups in Electronica. Indeed, it took menton3 more than 5 years, to record this follow up to the critically aclaimed and super successful album ‘Ganglion’, which was released in 2006 and re-issued by Artoffact Records last month.

Monocyte is a concept album, a soundtrack to the comic book of the same name, published by IDW Publishing. The CD is raw, dark, and difficult, presenting a vision of the Monocyte brand that builds on the comic's energy. Highly recommended if you like the sound of Portishead, Massive Attack, DJ Shadow…

Menton3 (Menton J. Matthews III) is a classically trained musician and impressive multi-instrumentalist, playing cello, viola, violin, guitar, drums, piano, and bass, as well as a slew of electronics. He has spent few years refining his song-writing abilities by scoring film soundtracks and doing production work at the mixing desk.
