Founded in Minsk, Belarus, and based since 2017 in Augsburg, Germany, The Violent Youth is an unmistakably unique new wave, post-punk duo led by talented Belarussian singer, visual artist and multi-instrumentalist Arthur Tsymbal. Live, the band plays as a duo, with Julian Riegel on bass. Starting its ascent from the Minsk underground post-punk scene, TVY entered western Europe with confidence, moving to Germany and sharing the stage with new German artists such as Drangsal and Edwin Rosen. Since their inception, The Violent Youth have released several DIY music videos, independently released singles and 3 albums (self-released, on Young and Cold and US-Label ‘à la Carte’), garnering a growing global fanbase.
In 2023, the band announced their global signing to Toronto-based label Artoffact Records. The band's latest album “Ostavaites Na Linii” (Hold the Line) was released in fall 2021, further developing the dark sound The Violent Youth has become known for, while incorporating a more danceable, yet simultaneously vulnerable side. Seeing features from outlets like Post-Punk, Idioteq, Peek-a-Boo Magazine, and more, and getting themselves on Spotify’s Darkwave playlist while working independently, they are sure to take this momentum to new heights with their new label home.
The all new album “Na Igle” is sure to captivate fans of current, modern post-punk and will appeal to fans of Molchat Doma, ACTORS, Ploho, and Lebanon Hanover.
